Movie Review: “The Gray Man”

I read the book…..go here to read my review.

The Gray Man (Ryan Gosling) is an assassin recruited out of jail (for killing his father) by CIA director, Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton).

Present Day

On a mission to kill a dangerous target…..The Gray Man, aka, Six…..did not want to kill a little boy who was in the way while his handler at the CIA (and Fitzroy’s replacement) says collateral damage is ok given the danger the target presents to the security of the United States.

Six doesn’t listen and kills the target another way……

Before the target dies, he gives Six a USB memory stick that proves that his handler at the CIA is bad and is using the CIA as his own personal hit squad.

Knowing that Six has evidence against him, the CIA handler sics, mean guy Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans) after him.

Lloyd activates elite kill squads from around the world to kill Six and get the USB stick. As insurance, Lloyd kidnaps Fitzroy and his niece, Claire (Julia Butters), who Six knows……as an inducement to come to the mansion to save them.

The kill teams just need to do their job knowing where Six is heading.

With the help of CIA agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas), Six…….

Oh, to find out what happens you can watch this movie on Netflix.

“The Gray Man” is an action packed spies killing and murder thriller that, according to Lori is “ridiculous” and “stupid”. I suppose the part where Six is handcuffed to a bike rack and several teams of highly trained “elite” killers can’t do him in…..was the breaking point for Lori.

Ignoring the stupidity, I actually enjoyed it. The movie added (much like the Hunger Games) interesting parts that were not in the book and were pretty good.
