Phil (Adam Devine) is stuck in a job that he does not like.
He is a journalism graduate and all he is doing is lists that are expected to go viral….or he can lose his job.
Coworkers Craig (Ron Funches) and Elaine (Charlyne Yi) try to be friends with Phil, but, he is a loner and rejects their offers of playing kickball and getting wasted after the game.
Living in San Francisco and not even looking around at the beauty of his location, he bumps into a bicyclist on his way home one evening.
His phone is scratched, but, not broken.
Cate (Alexandra Shipp) owns a bike shop (repair and sales) where she runs into Phil who clumsiliy apologizes.
But, hey, there is a kind of a spark between them…..then Phil’s beloved phone is completely destroyed and he needs a new one.
At the store, Denice (Wanda Sykes), sells him the latest version and when he gets home, he finds out that the operating system is a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) called Jexi (voiced by Rose Byrne).
Jexi is mean…..and nasty…..as she tells him she is going to improve his life.
Oh, to see what happens you can watch this movie on Netflix. 🙂
“Jexi” is both super funny and super scary. Adam Devine is hilarious and the rest of the cast, in particular, Rose Byrne, are great.
This movie is NOT for kids as there are dick pics, modest boob shots, phone sex (plugging the power cord in and out) resulting in phone orgasms, and lots and lots of f-words.
Scary? It takes AI to a place where some researchers, engineers, and scientists are afraid it will go. Time will tell.
