Maggie Carpenter (Julia Roberts) is famous in her hometown for being a “runner”.
Not a runner in the sense that I was (100+ 10k’s and 2 SF Marathons), but, Maggie turns and runs as she is walking up the aisle leaving her husband-to-be in shock.
New York City columnist, Ike Graham (Richard Gere), heard about Maggie and wrote a column about her.
Then he was fired!
