Movie Review: “Confess, Fletch”



Returning to his rented apartment from a European trip, Irwin M. Fletcher (Jon Hamm), finds a woman dead on his living room carpet.

After calling the police, Inspector Morris Monroe (Roy Wood Jr.) and his trainee, Griz (Ayden Mayeri), immediately suspect Fletch of the murder. But, Morris is a thoughtful police detective (nicknamed slo-mo for his deliberate problem solving) and does not arrest Fletch……yet.

Turns out, that Fletch’s European trip was to start the process of finding out who was stealing priceless paintings from Angela de Grassi’s (Lorenza Izzo) father, the Count.

Angela and Fletch hit it off and end up in bed!

Alas, that was not to continue as Fletch is now back home and a murder suspect.

The determined Griz follows Fletch everywhere while slo-mo Morris sleeps (he has a new baby in the family).

Multiple suspects emerge and…….

“Confess, Fletch” is a remake of the old Chevy Chase movies and is equally terrific. Funny with a thriller edge. Great cast with a low budget, indie, feel which is kinda weird (and wonderful) considering it is Paramount+.
