“Going in Style” Movie Review

Willie (Morgan Freeman), Joe (Michael Caine), and Albert (Alan Arkin) retired from their jobs at a steel manufacturer only to find out that their pensions have been cancelled.

With medical bills and mortgage payments, the three old guys cannot afford to live without their pension.

Joe is at the bank one day trying to save his home from foreclosure when the bank is robbed. The three robbers were never caught, and Joe, had an idea: Rob the same bank that sold him an adjustable mortgage he can no longer afford, and is handling the steel companies finances.

What do they have to lose…three 80+ old men with no money…..if they get caught and put in jail, they will be fed, clothed, have medical, and a roof over their head for the few years they have left. If they succeed….they have more money than they know what to do with. A no lose situation.

Willie is on-board instantly, but, Al hesitates, until more shit happens then all three team with Jesus (John Ortiz) to plan and execute a bank robbery.

“Going in Style” is a very funny movie about getting older, getting screwed, then getting even. Freeman, Caine, and Arkin are fantastic (of course…), and a supporting cast of Ortiz, Ann-Margret, Christopher Lloyd, Matt Dillon, and more are terrific as well. A fun movie….with a moral. Not for kids as there are some f-words. In fact, kids won’t go, hmmmmm, kids under 50 probably won’t go either, but, us oldies should love it.  We did.  🙂
