
A small town high school teacher, Howard Brackett (Kevin Kline) is a few days away from marrying his long time girlfriend, and fellow teacher, Emily Montgomery (Joan Cusack).
An ex-student, Cameron Drake (Matt Dillon), is now an actor and is up for an Academy Award (for an absolutely awful performance ;-).
The whole town gathers around their TV sets to watch the Academy Awards, and to everyone’s surprise……Cameron won Best Actor!
The whole town cheers as Cameron thanks his old teacher, Howard, for helping him in so many ways, and by the way…..Mr. Brackett is gay.

Even Howard is shocked, but, as time goes by, he realizes, that…….
“In & Out” was released in 1997, and has some shocking events that would never happen in 2017 (but, may, unfortunately, happen again in these intolerant, hateful, dark times). Kevin Kline is perfect, as are Joan Cusack (but, she is always perfect) and Tom Selleck in an unusual role for him.
