Kit (Brie Larson) has wanted a pet unicorn since she was a kid.
In fact, she had an imaginary unicorn, Steve, that she took care of and played with while her parents were being dicks (Gladys (Joan Cusack and Gene (Bradley Whitford).
Because her parent were dicks, Kit grew up kinda messed up. She was missing unconditional love and her neurosis as an adult revolved around that missing love.
Kit was kicked out of school because…well….she is a unique person and the teachers could not see that. After a time of needed depression and self-examination, Kit decided to grow up, put on a suit, and join the real world.
But…..you can’t stop being who you are and, luckily, Kit was invited by some mysterious stranger, The Salesman (Samuel L. Jackson), to adopt a Unicorn if she passes the test of ownership.
Then she meets a guy, Virgil (Mamoudou Athie), who helps her get that Unicorn….and find her true self.
To see what happens, you will have to watch the movie.
“Unicorn Store” is a strange and beautiful move about coming to grips with….yourself. Captain Marvel and Nick fury both rock! 🙂
