

Leo Borlock’s (Graham Verchere) father died when he was about 8 years old. Since that day, Leo wore his fathers favorite tie everywhere. Leo may have looked goofy, but, he did not care as a part of his father was with him always.
Shortly after his father’s death, Leo’s mom, Gloria (Darby Stanchfield), got a job offer in Mica, AZ and the two of them headed off to the country to start a new life.
On his first day in school, Leo was attacked by bigger kids and his father’s tie was ruined. From that day forward, Leo vowed to be quiet and blend into the background.
Every year….on his birthday…..a new tie showed up at his doorstep. He had no idea who it was from.

In his senior year in high school, Leo was in the marching band (just like me!) when he saw a girl come onto the football field.

Stargirl Caraway (Grace VanderWaal) was definately her own person. Home-schooled until this year, Stargirl became the school’s good luck charm…but, truthfully, she did not care as she only thought of others.
The way she dressed and the way she acted was 180 degrees out of phase with a normal teenager, and best of all, she liked Leo…..a lot.
Leo and Stargirl became inseparable, until…..
Oh, sorry……to see what happens, you will have to watch the movie. 🙂
“Stargirl” is a terrific coming of age movie where the viewer learns that it is always best to be true to yourself. Don’t change because of others or peer pressure, just do what YOU need to do to be happy. Great advice!
