OK…..I’m old enough…..
I followed the original 7….I saw the first launch of a man into space…..I watched the moon landing (as a summer student at Lowell Tech)……I watched the first tests of the Space Shuttle (working at Sears and attending SUNY at Stony Brook for my BS in Electrical Engineering)……I watched the Space Shuttle explosion (while designing the Remote Access Panel at LLNL)…..I watched as local hero, Jose Hernandez (fellow LLNL employee, I met him briefly) took off into space and landed……I watched Christina Koch break records as a woman in space and come back to earth…..and TODAY, May 30, 2020 (amid horrible crises, virus and racial, in the world)…..I watched with the same EXCITEMENT as I had when I watched all the above…..The first ever commercial launch of humans (Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley) into space by SpaceX (with NASA collaboration).
As Picard would say about space travel: “Make it so….”
Today is a milestone for space exploration.
Mark my words……
I only wish I could be around to see how it all goes.
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math……STEM / STEAM live in the hearts and minds of millions of brilliant people even though the orange and white leaders of this country are science / technology deniers: That said…..the Orange man and his dip-shit VP….have NO place watching the launch. Shame on them. Hypocrites.
STEM / STEAM rock!
