Paterson (Adam Driver) was born and raised in Paterson, N.J. (also the home of Lou Costello).
Paterson is now a bus driver in Paterson where he lives a few blocks away from the bus depot, with his wife or girfriend, Laura (Golshifteh Farahani) and her dog, Marvin (Nellie),
Every morning and evening he walks to and from work.
And, whenever he gets the chance, he writes poetry in his secret book.
Laura is a dreamer and a creative. She dreams about being a country music star, and of owning a cupcake store, and, during the day, she creates beautiful black and white designs out of cloth and paint and, when she makes her cupcakes, sugar. In fact, Paterson has a new cupcake and a new picture of Laura in his lunch pail every day. He comes home to new and unique dinners…some good…..some not so good.
She loves Paterson, he loves her, and both are happy.
At night Paterson and Marvin go for a walk where Paterson ties Marvin up at the local bar while he goes inside and has one beer while he talks to the owner and customers.
Then he goes home and writes more poetry (his hero is poet William Carlos Williams) until it’s time for bed.
The next morning….

“Paterson” is the quietest movie you will ever watch. A man, a woman, and a dog living each day. Nothing specatcular, no Kylo Ren fights…..just two people and a dog…..living. We were enthralled.
