Movie Review: “The Bachelors”

Bill (J.K. Simmons) and Wes Palet (Josh Wiggins) lost their wife and mom a little over a year ago.

Bill, who was married to Jeanie (Kimberly Crandall) for 33 years is depressed and is not getting any better.

BUT, he is functioning and decides that a change of scenery will do them both good. Soooooo, he heads south to LA and a new job as a math teacher in a private school run by his old college buddy, Paul (Kevin Dunn).

Wes is sad and thinks about his mom every second of everyday, but, he is a kid and is stronger than dad.

At the new school, Wes makes new friends……and meets a girl!

Lacy (Odeya Rush) is like a breath of fresh air (with her own issues though) to Wes and, luckily, their French teacher, Carine (Julie Delpy), teams them up as homework buddies so Lacy can get extra help from Wes (who’s French is excellent).

And, even better, Carine likes Bill!

Carine, Bill, Lacy, Wes

Everything would be nice if only Bill could pull out of his depression.

Then…..

Oh, to see what happens you can watch this movie on Amazon Prime. 🙂

“The Bachelors” is an excellent, deliberately quiet, heart warming/breaking, indie movie about a dad and son grieving…..and how they struggle to learn how to enjoy life again. Stellar cast!
