Alexis Fish (Gina Rodriguez), a widowed event planner living in Los Angeles, is back home in Brooklyn for a relatives funeral. She only plans to stay a few days even though she has no jobs in LA, no family, and no friends.
Alexis’s sister, Kayla (Ana Ortiz) has set Alexis up with a Bat Mitzvah to plan for a friend……in a week!
Yikes!
Hitting the local bar that night, Kayla gets rip roaring drunk, falls down and almost breaks her nose. Luckily the bar’s owner, Dominic Sebastiani (Steven Strait), takes her to his office where his young son bonds with Kayla as she sleeps off her stupor.
This gives Alexis and Dom a chance to bond, and boy do they ever!
The following week, for Alexis, is a whirlwind of event planning, cajoling, fighting with her well meaning but difficult mother, and…..hmmmm……falling in love.

“Sleeping with the Fishes” showcases Gina Rodriguez before she was Jane or the President of the United States. 🙂 It is a bit slow in the beginning, but, picks up steam in the last half becoming a fun quirky rom-com.
