1944
Two pilots, one American one Japanese, have to parachute out of their planes after a dog fight.
They land on a tropical island somewhere in the Pacific and now they are fighting each other……..
Until…..
1973
A mission to explore a previously unknown island in the Pacific is mounted by an Amercain private company lead by Bill Randa (John Goodman). This mission is comprised of: American military forces and highly qualified civilian scientists.
The official goal is to explore the geography of the island (when in fact the real goal is much more ominous…..and has to do with ancient monsters).
The military mission is lead by gung-ho Colonel Preston Packard (Samuel L. Jackson) while the civilian effort is lead by ex-military special forces soldier James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston), and…..rounding out the Avengers in this movie…..Photographer Mason Weaver (Brie Larson).
Fury, Loki, and Captain Marvel…..what a team!
Sorry, I was distracted….back to the review. 😉
As the helicoptered teams approach the island and drop their seismic “bombs”, the helicopters are met by an extremely large, extremely angry, gorilla……KONG!

Very few survive the encounter but those that do are split up into two teams: Gung-ho military ready to kill anything in their way, and the more curious and cautious civilians.
The curious civilians run into an indigenous people and…….Hank Marlow (John C. Reilly)……one of the two soldiers who crashed landed here in 1944!
Then all hell breaks loose!

“Kong: Skull Island” is a fun, action packed, bloody, movie that was much better than I thought it would be.
