Movie Review: “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”

Lori purchased all three Fantastic Beasts movies from VUDU and we spent the last three Saturdays watching and re-watching. It has been magical!

The wizarding world is about to select a new leader. Two of the candidates are intelligent, kind, and competent. The third candidate is…..well…….Grindelwald (now played by Mads Mikkelsen).

Grindelwald is a horrible person (we all know what electing someone like that is like) and all he wants to do is have the witches and wizards rule the world and suppress (or kill) muggles.

In his younger days, Dumbledore (Jude Law) felt the same way, and since he loved (yeah, hey, if you did not already know….Dumbledore is gay) they made an unbreakable vow to support each other and do no harm if one should change his mind.

Well….Dumbledore changed his mind and is now a kinder gentler human being willing to accept everyone as they are.

But……that darn unbreakable vow…..

To get around that, Dumbledore gathers a team of powerful wizards like Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), Professor Lally Hicks (Jessica Williams), Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner), and one very brave muggle, Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), to help him defeat Grindelwald.

Jacob, Lally, Newt, Theseus

Will they succeed? Can the world be saved from tyranny? Will good prevail?

To find out, you will have to watch the movie on your favorite streamer.

“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” is a terrific, magical, movie filled with action, intrigue, and a just a few uncomfortable reminders of how close we came to destroying democracy for the sake of one orange idiot wanna-be dictator.
