Movie Review: “Wedding Season”

Sisters Asha (Pallavi Sharda) and Priya (Arianna Afsar) are slowly breaking with Indian traditions.

For example, Priya is about to marry a “white guy” (who she is living with!), Nick (Sean Lleier), and Asha and Priya have confessed to us that they have snuck out of the house to watch R rated movies, party, and otherwise fool around.

Suneeta, Asha, Nick, Priya, Vijay (Rizwan Manji)

Their mother, Suneeta (Veena Sood), is holding on to traditions…..with a modern twist…..by filling out Asha’s profile on a dating site, with just a few minor fibs about Asha’s traditional values, when, in fact, Asha is a tradition-breaking brilliant economist working at a non-profit that identifies small business owners who might benefit from an SBA micro-loan.

Interestingly, Suneeta has found a match for Asha: An MIT graduate working at a startup, Ravi (Suraj Sharma). If his bio on the site is to be believed. 😉

Angry at her mom for entering her info on the dating site, Asha and Suneeta finally agree to drop the site IF Asha and Ravi go to EVERY wedding during wedding season…..19 of them!

Well, one thing leads to another, and…….

Oh, to see what happens you can watch this movie on Netflix. 🙂

“Wedding Season” is a fun, coming of age, romcom with lots of laughs and thought-provoking moments…….followed by one totally-laugh-out-loud-put-the-movie-on-pause-while-you-recover-and-pick-yourself-off-the-floor scene. Thank you, thin banana, Nick! :-))))
