Movie Review: “Rescued By Ruby”

Warwick, RI state trooper, Daniel O’Neil (Grant Gustin) has been trying to get into the elite K9 unit for the past 7 years, without success.

This year, Daniel is 29 and the age limit for acceptance into the K9 unit is 30! So this is his last chance.

He loves animals, but, does not even have a dog, not to mention a $10,000 German Shepard.

Ruby is a wild and crazy girl.

She has been in the shelter for several months and has been sent home to her furever family, and brought back, for the last time.

Tonight she will be put to sleep.

Daniel learns that the dogs in the K9 unit do not have to be Shepards, but, can be any larger sized dog with the right personality.

Heading to the shelter……Daniel finds Ruby, and Ruby finds Daniel….and a family, where Daniel and his wife, Melissa (Kaylah Zander), want Ruby to be a family dog first, and a rescue dog second.

Baby O’Neil, Ruby, Melissa

Even though it is a rough go and nothing happens in a flash…….a super hero emerges…..maybe two.

To see what happens, you can watch this movie on Netflix. 🙂

“Rescued By Ruby” is a terrific family movie, based on a true story, with lots of action and some tense moments, mixed with hilarity (Ruby is, in her heart, a wild and crazy girl). But, when all is said and done……Daniel needs to learn how to trust Ruby, and Ruby needs to learn how to supress her wild side… least while she is working.
