The Sanderson sisters (Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy)) are witches in Salem, Massachusetts. They have figured out a way to steal eternal life for themselves by sucking the life out of a young girl, Emily.
Emily’s brother, Thackery (Sean Murray), trys to stop them but is cursed with eternal life….as a black cat.
During the Salem witch trials, the townsfolk of Salem hung (hanged?) the three sisters, but, before they died, they vowed to come back as soon as a virgin lights the black flame candle in their house.
Thackery the cat made it his mission in his eternal life to to make the Sanderson sisters pay for killing Emily….if they ever did come back.

Recently arriving in Salem from California, Max (Omri Katz) and his sister Dani (Thora Birch) are going out for Halloween to collect candy and have some fun. Meeting Allison (Vinessa Shaw), who Max met in school and is in love with, they visit the Sanderson Museum.
Goofing around….Max (who is a virgin) lights the candle and……releases from death the three sisters, who……

“Hocus Pocus” is terribly overacted and goofy. Definitely not the best movie for a “classic” but it is ok if your plan, like us, is to check out “Hocus Pocus 2” and you have completely forgotten that Probie (NCIS) is in this movie! 🙂
