“Wine Country” Movie Review

Celebrating Rebecca’s (Rachel Dratch) 50th birthday, 6 long time friends visit Napa Valley for a girls-only weekend. Unknown to the others, her marriage is falling apart.

Val, Rebecca, Naomi, Catherine, Jenny, Abby

Abby (Amy Poehler) organized the trip and developed a brochure of activities detailed down to the minute. Unknown to the others, Abby has recently lost her job.

Naomi (Maya Rudolph) is looking forward to a fun few days hoping to take her mind off of the feared blood test that might indicate breast cancer. No one else knows.

Val (Paula Pell) is hoping to find a girl friend on this trip and, luckily, meets a young attractive artist, and waitress, Jade (Maya Erskine) who…..

Catherine (Ana Gasteyer) is a workaholic pizza chain mogul who is having a hard time getting cell phone signal to finish a big deal she is working on. Unknown to the others, she secretly wishes she could enjoy time off.

Jenny (Emily Spivey) is the shyest of them all and everyone else is surprised she actually showed up.

Tammy (Tina Fey) owns the bed and breakfast and, Devon (Jason Schwartzman), is the cook and driver.

Throw everyone together for 3 days and mix……eventually, they all become better friends than ever!

“Wine Country” started a bit slow and weird, then it got much better….but stayed weird. 🙂 A fun movie that on the surface looks brainless, but, is not. You can watch it on Netflix.
