
Stanley Crawford (Colin Firth) is a very famous illusionist in 1928. His stage name, and persona, is that of Wei Ling Soo, and the costume he wears assures Stanley that no one will ever recognize him outside of show.
As such, Stanley’s side hustle is to debunk those who claim to contact the dead in a seance, tell the future, and claim to know your deepest darkest secrets. They are all fake, and it only takes one meeting for Stanley to point out their fakery.
One day, Stanley’s best friend and fellow magician, Howard Burken (Simon McBurney), asks Stanley to debunk a spiritualist working at a friends house in France.
Apparently, Sophie (Emma Stone), is extremely good at what she does because Howard could not uncover her tricks…..or she is not a fake.
Stanley visit’s the estate to meet Sophie and…….
Oh, to see what happens, you will have to watch the movie on Amazon Prime. 🙂
“Magic in the Moonlight” is a fun movie with a great cast, that unfortunately is not the best Woody Allen movie we have seen this week (see “A Rainy Day in New York”), and it is not the best part for Emma Stone that we have seen this week either (see “Cruella”).
But it is fun, nonetheless. 🙂
