Movie Review: “Father Stu”

Stuart Long (Mark Wahlberg) is an amateur boxer with a fair record….15-2.

BUT…..he is getting old and the beatings he is taking is leading to some disturbing medical issues.

His mother, Kathleen (Jacki Weaver) urges him to quit boxing and get a job. His father, Bill (Mel Gibson), could care less what his loser son does.

Stuart reluctantly agrees to get a job, but, he does not want just any old job….he wants to be an actor!

Applying at a grocery store where he figures his good looks and ebullient personality will land him a role. He gets the job and ends up working in the meat department.

Then……he sees…..Carmen (Teresa Ruiz)….and it is love at first sight.

Pursuing Carmen while continuing to work and drink and drive (Drive Safe!), he has a horrific accident where Mary (as in Mary, Joseph, and Jesus) comes to him.

He barely survives.

Always a religious man, Stu decides to become a Priest…then….

Oh, to see what happens you can watch this movie on Neflix.

“Father Stu” is an interesting movie based on a real person. Lots of f-words and brutal fighting / accident scenes so it is not for the faint of heart, or younger kids.

Drive Safe! Never Forget.

More dramas…..
