Movie Review: “Disenchanted”



15 years after finding her happily ever after, Giselle (Amy Adams), is finding that she is not happily ever after.

The New York apartment, and life, she shares with Robert (Patrick Dempsey), suddenly sullen teenage daughter, Morgan (Gabriella Baldacchino), and baby Sofia (Mila and Lara Jackson) is now smaller and a whole lot more hectic than happily ever after promises.

Sadly, Giselle is not at all happy and decides to move the family to a fixer-upper in a small town……where she is sure happily ever after will find her.

It doesn’t.

Meeting the town mean girls, Malvina (Maya Rudolph), Rosaleen (Yvette Nicole Brown), and Ruby (Jayma Mays), only deepens the sadness within Giselle.

Luckily, Edward (James Marsden) and Nancy (Idina Menzel) visit and bring a gift: A wand that Giselle can use to change whatever she wants, as long as she abides by the rules.

Well……Giselle makes a wish and, much like Dr. Strange, she messes it up and……

Although “Disenchanted” lacks the sparklingly magical feel of the first movie, it is a nice, fun, sequel with it’s own magic, evil people and monsters, and another midnight deadline.
