My Plan by Yash Taneja

(To the beat of “God’s Plan” by Drake)

Yeah they wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’

They wishin’ on me, yuh

I gotta lot of passions, you just gotta trust me

Taking pictures is a dream, I love photography

I enjoy math, I wanna be an engineer

Taking things apart is a pleasure for me

I wanna change the world, yeah I love me some trees

Yes I see Earth’s beauty, I know you agree

Hope that I can be the change I wish to see

Mahatma Gandhi is an inspiration to me

My plan, my plan

Seventeen years, and I have grown, yuh

I have never been alone, ay, never

I finessed my IB load, ay, ‘nessed

Always had a family, yeah, wait

And they always support me, yuh, wait

Yeah they make my life complete

And still

Good things

It’s a lot of good things

That they wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’

They wishin’ on me

Good things

It’s a lot of good things

That they wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’

They wishin’ on me

Yuh, ay, ay

You say, “What’s your passion?” I tell you, “It’s a lot of things”

I really love math and the world and photography

I got ideas, and I’ll make sure that they are achieved

17, yeah I’m only getting started

And now you know me

Make the world a better place with technology, dog

Without engineering, this is just a dream

Imagine if the world was filled with goodness

My plan, my plan

In college, I’ll get more skills ay, yes

I have never been alone, ay, never

I finessed my IB load, ay, ‘nessed

Always had a family, yeah, wait

And they always support me, yuh, wait

Yeah they make my life complete

And still

Good things

It’s a lot of good things

That they wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’

They wishin’ on me

Yeah, yeah

Good things

It’s a lot of good things

That they wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’

They wishin’ on me

Explanation of Work

Throughout my high school career, I have rapped multiple presentations to songs that I love to express my creativity and passion for music. All types of music—from Bollywood songs to rap and R&B—play a major role in my life, bringing me comfort, happiness, and motivation. In the rap I have written to the beat of Drake’s “God’s Plan,” I explain all the things that I am passionate for in my life, and how my family’s support helps me achieve all my goals. I mention how photography has helped me find the beauty in the world, and how my love for mathematics has developed into my goal of becoming an engineer. By relating the beauty of the world to engineering, I go on to say how I want to change the world and fill it with goodness. At the end of the second stanza, I mention Mahatma Gandhi’s quote, “Be the change you want to see in the world,” to show my passion for helping others  and making the world a better place.
