    “The Debt” Movie Review

(great thriller) – – In 1966, three Mossad agents are sent into East Germany to capture, and bring to trial, a sadistic Holocaust surgeon. Unfortunately, things go horribly wrong. The three decide to lie…..and are welcomed home as heroes.  30 years later, that lie comes back to haunt them. The young and old characters are…

    “Our Idiot Brother” Movie Review

    – – Paul Rudd (as Ned) is really not an idiot.  He is an innocent child-like man who puts his faith in other people, hoping that the best in them will come out if given the chance.  He is honest to a fault…and he loves Willie Nelson. Trusting a local cop who asks to buy…

    “Paul” Movie Review

(Terrific) – – We watched this on VUDU. Looking at the trailer, I thought this might be a crude, loud, crazy movie.  What it is is a sweet, low key (well, most of the time), well acted escape movie, with a heart of gold. Simon Pegg (as Graeme Willy) and Nick Frost (as Clive Gollings)…

  • “One Day” Movie Review

The reason I go to the movies, and read, is to be transported to a world not connected with reality.  A mini-vacation.  A state-of-mind where I can be an ape leading a revolution, a plain man learning how to pick up beautiful women, a skinny kid super hero, a chubby zookeeper talking with animals,…

    “Zoolander” Movie Review

We watched this on VUDU. Ben Stiller (as Derek Zoolander) is the top male model in the world.  Unfortunately, his brain power does not match his looks and this makes him the perfect person to train to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Will Ferrell (as mega designer Jacobim Mugatu) is off the wall bad in this…

“He’s just not that into you” Movie Review

      — — We watched this on VUDU. A cast full of stars agonizing over the fact that if a guy wants to call you back (or marry you), he will.  If he does not want to call you back (or marry you) he won’t. DUH. A fun movie, funny in parts, angst ridden. With…

  • “Take Me Home Tonight” Movie Review

(fun coming of age movie) — — We watched this on VUDU and really enjoyed it.  If I would have known how good this movie was when we went to see the awful “Rango”, we would have seen this movie instead. It’s 1988, and recent MIT engineering graduate, Topher Grace (as Matt Franklin) is working…

“Rise of the Planet of the Apes” Movie Review

(tense, frightening, realistic) — — James Franco (as Will Rodman) is a brilliant scientist testing the effects of a drug he has developed to, hopefully, cure Alzheimer’s.   The mission is personal since his father (the brilliant John Lithgow as Charles Rodman) has that disease. Franco’s latest breakthru is a chimp named “Bright Eyes”.  But something…
