High School senior, Emma Nolan (Jo Ellen Pellman) lives in a small town in Indiana and is gay.
With the Prom upcoming, Emma is planning to bring her girlfriend, Alyssa (Ariana DeBose), to the prom (where Alyssa will come out), but, the PTA nixes that idea with the fervent help of Mrs. Green (Kerry Washington).
The PTA cancels the Prom. Idiots…..
Principal Tom Hawkins (Keegan-Michael Key) knows this is a civil rights issue and asks the Indiana attorney general to overturn the PTA’s decision.
Meanwhile…..
After some really bad reviews of their latest Broadway show, Dee Dee Allen (Meryl Streep), Barry Glickman (James Corden), Angie Dickenson (Nicole Kidman) and Trent Oliver (Andrew Rannells) decide to to do something “nice” (meaning publicity for them) for someone and, via Twitter, find Emma.
They decide to help Emma, and in the process, enlighten the small narrowminded town in Indiana.

Arriving in Indiana…..the four Broadway actors hook up with Principal Hawkins and Emma then…….
Oh….to see what happens, you will have to watch this movie on Netflix.
“The Prom” is sometimes corny, sometimes touching, but always wonderful musical about accepting people as who they are.
