Movie Review: “The Sunlit Night”

Frances (Jenny Slate) is an artist, and her world just came unraveled.

Her latest art work was dissed by a panel of judges, she just broke up with her boyfriend, her sister announced her engagement, and her parents announced their separation.

Frances needs to get away!

Luckily, she found work for the summer, painting a barn in Northern Norway with a famous artist, Nils (Fridtjov Saheim), who had just fired his latest assistant.

The barn will be painted…..yellow, according to his number system. Essentially, this is a paint by numbers job that she will work at 12 hours a day (7 AM to 7 PM) until it is done.

Living in a small trailer with a spectacular view and goats (one who falls in love with her), Frances has found a never setting sun, and…..

A perfect way, and place, to get her mind off of her messy life.

While there, she meets Yasha (Alex Sharp) who is there to give his deceased father a true Viking funeral,

Frances, Yasha

and the eccentric leader of the Viking clan, Haldor (Zac Galifianakis),

Haldor

then……

Oh to find yout what happens you can watch is movie on Amazon Prime. 🙂

“The Sunlit Night” is a heartwarming, quirky, indie with a great cast and spectacular scenery! And, eventually, a yellow barn. 🙂

Not for kids as there is nudity, sex, and the realization that life is not perfect, but, it is pretty damn good, overall, and you can be a better version of yourself, with perspective.

More quirky indies…..

Drive Safe! Never Forget.
