Movie Review: “Hustle”

After 30 years as an NBA scout (currently with the 76ers), Stanley Sugarman (Adam Sandler) is on a worldwide hunt for a basketball player that will, hopefully, jump start his coaching career.

The new owner of the 76ers, Vince Merrick (Ben Foster), is not a fan of Sugerman and gives him an ultimatium:

Find a new star, or go.

WTF?

In Spain, Sugarman happens upon a pickup game in a local park. He watches as several REALLY good players exchange baskets and play amazing defense.

Then a tall guy in boots(!) shows up to challenge the best of the pickup players, and promptly kicks basketball ass.

That guy is Bo Cruz (Juancho Hernangomez….currently with the Utah Jazz, I think).

Bo, Stanley

Bringing Bo back to the states to meet with, and show off his talents to, the 76ers….Sugarman and Bo are shunned…..

Then Stanley gets an idea, and…….

Oh, to see what happens you can watch this movie on Netflix.

“Hustle” is a fantastic movie about basketball and life. It is great for fans and non-fans alike. But……I AM a Jayhawk…..and college basketball is my thing since the 1970’s so it was really cool seeing some of the players I watched play against us….Trea Young, I’m talkin about you….and many others. Wow!

If you read this blog regularly, you know that we LOVE Adam Sandler (do a search above or see the slider below). We love goofy stupid Adam Sandler, we love funny Adam Sandler, and we love serious Adam Sandler. As serious Adam, you see how great an actor he is….and in this movie…..he is STUPENDOUS. And Juancho is no slouch!

No Rob Schneider. 😦
