Nate (Rueby Wood) has a dream: To be a huge Broadway star!
Unfortunately, he has to survive 7th grade (where he is bullied) first, and it would be nice if he could land a part in the school play.
Well…..he lands the part: That of a tree.
Nate supposes that his career is ending at 13 until his best friend, Libby (Aria Brooks), spots an announcement for open auditions for “Lilo & Stitch: The Musical” in New York City….on Broadway!
That is both their dreams coming true, soooo the two 13 year olds sneak out and hop an overnight bus in Pittsburg headed to NY.
If worse comes to worse, Nate’s Aunt Heidi (Lisa Kudrow) is a Broadway actress and can put them up in her apartment……maybe (Aunt Heidi and her sister (Nate’s mom) have not talked in ten years).
When the audition rolls around, Nate…….
Oh, to see what happens you can watch this movie on Disney+. 🙂
“Better Nate Than Ever” is a fantastic coming of age movie. Nate and Libby, and Aunt Heidi, all learn a lot about themselves, and life, in the few days they are together. A LOT!
An uplifting musical (you know how much I LOVE musicals) with several key messages for young kids and orange adults alike:
Find your passion.
Be yourself (“find YOUR light”, and let others be who they are).
And if you happen to know every word to every song in the Broadway play “Pippin” let the world know by singing it LOUD and singing it PROUD.
Watch for George Benson to show up in a cameo while Nate is singing his song. VERY COOL! 🙂
